Europe Trip: Germany

We began our second day of Europe trip in Germany, where we visited the city of Cologne. Yes, like its name suggests, the city is also famous with its cologne. But first, we take a look at the Cologne Cathedral, a massive cathedral built centuries ago. Its entrance is pretty grand looking with many statues surrounding it. You just got to see it in person to be amazed by its magnificent.

A sacred place. Look how the interior is shaped, making its height look more apparent.

Around the Cologne Cathedral has plenty of food store and cologne shops. Since the cologne doesn't come cheap, I headed for the food instead. Pretzels, pretzels everywhere! Chocolate and almond slices coated pretzels were yummy, quite filling as brunch. Didn't get to try Cologne's famous Schnitzel though...

Mercedes E-Class as taxis in Germany... Meh...

Lorelei, nope it's not the Asgardian from Marvel Agent of Shield. The rock behind us is called Lorelei, largely due to a rumour where the a beautiful young girl died nearby the river and upon her death, she turned into a siren and lured sailors to their death with her hypnotising voice.

Just opposite of the rock of Lorelei, there was a restaurant selling pork knuckles, huge ones! See? Almost as wide as my face! The taste was not bad, not sure how it would fair with others as that was my first time trying out a pork knuckle!

We then headed to Munich, the city of BMW! But too bad we only get to see the HQ of BMW from far as BMW was not in our itinerary :( Visited the Marienplatz, the city's main square. To our surprise, a Maggi store was available here and of course, we grabbed few packets along as dinner or supper! There were so many kind of flavours available in Germany like duck and cheese!

While I found Marienplatz a little boring, it's a different case when it comes to the market beside of it. Since we are in Germany, sausages were everywhere! Raw, cooked, deco... Ok, not deco. But where there is food, there is sausage. Nothing exceptionally delicious about the 'benjo' of Germany, except that the sausage was huge!

No Berlin Wall in our itinerary, unfortunately. One of the famous stuff in Germany is the unlimited speed highway - Autobahn. I not sure did we travelled on the Autobahn or not, but I hope one day I will get to drive a German sports car on the Autobahn, it's every car enthusiast's dream! *add into wishlist*

One thing about Germany is that most of the Germans doesn't speak English. They will speak German with you eventhough they know you are a foreigner and couldn't have possibly know the language. Perhaps a translation app will be useful in Germany.

NEXT - Austria!
