Macau & Hong Kong

I'm back at Venice! Nah, it is actually The Venetian in Macau! We landed in Macau first, since it is my first time here. So that I get the chance to explore some popular tourist attractions before we head to Hong Kong island. Once we landed in Macau International Airport, it took us a while to find the free shuttle bus to The Venetian (which is on the far right once you exit the airport).

Due to time constrain, we only have half a day to explore Macau. My only regret is we didn't have time to Ruins of Saint Paul's. When it's dusk, we headed to the ferry terminal in a free shuttle bus (again).

The whole journey on the ferry from Macau to Hong Kong took near to an hour. We booked a small room located in a flat, just a stone throw away from Mong Kok MRT. The room fits a 2 beds, and a small space to put your luggage, that's all. The en-suite bathroom is just as wide as its door, that's how cramp it is.

After settling down, we were a little hungry from all the travelling, so we explored some streets around the homestay. we had curry fishball and it was the first time of my life for trying out pork lard rice. Pure pork lard, nothing else to go along with rice. Crispy and fragrant, but the oiliness is a little overwhelmed.

This is how the homestay flat looks like during daytime. Yup, it's a residential flat where few units were converted into hostel/homestay. We share lifts access with the residences there, imagine the insecurity of the residences to travel in and out with outsiders everyday.

Night time it looks a bit like those rundown flats in a horror movie, and there was an incident where a grandma who has severe hunchback and head almost perpendicular to her shoulder walked into our elevator and scared the heck out of us!

茶餐室 is one of Hong Kong's specialties. Therefore we had breakfast in Kam Wah bakery, had a polo bun and milk tea :) After filling up our stomach, we headed to MTR to visit Ngong Ping 360.

One tip: Buy the cable car ticket from Klook. It allows you to access the express queue lane.

The whole cable car trip is a lengthy 20mins. Super tall height above the sea level! But plenty of good views along the way.

The Buddha statue looks astonishing! Located right up at the top of the hill, overlooking all the visitors who are climbing up the stairs.

We headed back to the city for lunch.

To escape the hot afternoon weather, we visited the Langham Place Mall, where it is the home to the longest escalator in a mall in HK.

The next day morning we queued for steamed milk at Australia Dairy Co. Quite smooth for the milk, but the service of the staff can be better. Well, HK is infamous for the impatient restaurant staff.

It's time for some souvenirs from jenny Bakery, a famous biscuit in teddy bear design tin can. Taste wise, it's just fine.

We put our biscuit cans back in our homestay first before headed to Tsim Tsa Tsui.

Wanted to wait till 8pm for the Symphony of Light, but he is not feeling well due to the bed bugs bites. Pity him. So he was a little grumpy and we left earlier.

Supper we had desserts!

The 3rd day we book a trip via Klook to The Peak. We gather in Central MTR, then walk together in group to the tram station. When we arrived at the tram station, we were dumbfounded with the sheer amount of visitors waiting for tram. We waited for like half an hour to an hour for our turn, and it was a fun ride up the hill!

The view was breathtaking and the breeze... ahhhh!

After coming down from The Peak, we gave Emack and Bolio a try. Tasty, beautifully crafted but a little overrated I would say.

Tai Cheong Bakery for egg tarts!

Lan Fong Yuen for milk tea and pork bun.

Central Mid-level Escalator, the longest outdoor covered escalator in the world!

Montane Mansion for some instagrammable shots!
