Taichung, Taiwan

Hmm why am I wearing face mask while in KLIA? This Taiwan trip mark my last oversea vacation right before the Covid-19 pandemic got worse and Malaysia had the 1st Movement Controlled Order (MCO). We were wearing face mask from airport to flight till we reach Taiwan as a precaution.

The flight duration is about 4 and a half hours, but it was one of my scariest flights experience ever. The pilot made at least 3 attempts to touchdown the runway due to the heavy fog, sudden acceleration back up right before touchdown due to low visibility. A real sigh of relieve when the plane was successfully landed on Taoyuan Airport!

It's evening time and it was foggy in the city of Taoyuan as well. Saw this while we were heading our way to the High Speed Rail (HSR), as our plan is to head to Taichung to spend a night there.

MOS burger. Quite special as the patty is covered with 'rice buns' instead of the usual bread buns.

The HSR took about an hour to reach Taichung if not mistaken, and we took a cab to the hotel which is located just a stone throw away from the Feng Chia Night Market.

After settling down our luggages, we headed to Feng Chia Night Market to grab some snacks as dinner, we were famished from all the travelling!

One notable mention is the 天使鸡排, very crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside!

After that, we walked quite some distance (because we were stingy on taxi/Uber fare) to Ruyi 如一 to buy a famous local delicacy - Sunny cake 太阳饼. But it was a chilly night (the trip was in February, like winter in Taiwan) and it was quite peaceful and safe to walk on Taiwan streets at night.

The next day we hired a driver to fetch us to Cingjing Farm 清境农场. We booked him in Malaysia prior coming to Taichung. Mr. Xie was a nice guy and fetch us from our hotel quite punctually. The journey to Cingjing is about an hour, with narrow and windy roads in the second half of the journey.

Cingjing has a beautiful, picturesque scenary. I found peace and serenity looking at the environment and sheep, especially the sakura blossom!

At the end of the trail, we reached Paper Carton, a unique building.

Time for lunch! We had roasted chicken at a restaurant named Talowan. Juicy meat and crispy skin, overlooking the valley below. I like!

Lastly was the Swiss Garden, it is actually a hotel. We just stopped by, took a few photos and left.

A random 'night market'.

Some say Chun Shui Tang 春水堂 is the origin of bubble milk tea. We had a try and I would it's worth a try! Not bad at all!

Miyahara 宮原眼科. The ice cream sold here were beautiful to see, but very expensive to buy. We didn't try any though due to its pricing.

Lastly we visited Rainbow Village. Small area with beautifully painted wall.

This marks the end of our Taichung trip, where we requested the driver to send us back to Taichung HSR, to make our way to Taipei.
