Day Trip 1 - York, UK

Welcome to York! 'Tour guide' Sam will bring you around York, explore the wonders of York from North to South, East to West.

Clifford's Tower. Pay a small fee if you desire to reach the top of the fort. The view at the top of the stairwell is spectacular enough though.

The Castle Museum.

Helped duckies crossed the road! (Or were they afraid of me?) xD

One of the shortest street in York is Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate, translated from 'Whitnourwhatnourgate, meaning 'What a street!'. The namer of the street couldn't believe that such a short road is known as a street, thus the name.

The Shambles. The buildings protruded by few feet as it goes higher from the ground. Butchers slaughtered animals at the street side, where blood flowed down the shallow drain right next to the street. Must be a gruesome scene in the ancient time...

York Minster. To me, it's the grandest architecture in York. This cathedral was undergoing restoration when I was there, and I thought it is closed to the public, that's why I missed to witness its spectacular interior. As one of my seniors said, York Minster worth paying a visit to. She was mesmerised and touched (and cried a little) with its beauty inside. 10 Pounds to enter the Minster and extra few Pounds to climb its tower.

Ahh... A happy and relaxing weekend.

This shows how friendly and warm British people are. We were having our lunch nearby this group of British women and they asked us to join them for a photo! They were having wine and chatting happily, a little drunk but still sober enough to chat with us! This is one of the best photos we had in the UK:

York city walls. The walls defended the city of York since the Roman times. Still preserved quite well until these days. Explore the walls if you have time, you'll see the beauty of York along the pathway.
A beautiful mansion located behind of York Minster and beside York city walls.

National Railway Museum, home of many historical trains in the UK. Entrance is free and it is a highly recommended place for train enthusiasts (eg. Sheldon Cooper).

Reminded us of Eyes of Malaysia!
