Europe Trip - Rome, Italy

It was a day with lots of walking! Maybe that's why I'm slimmer after finishing the Europe trip! I'm not going to go into details on the historical stories of each building or monument in Rome, just photos and simple description of each would be suffice :) The photo above shows the Castel Sant' Angelo, located not far away from Vatican City and was used as a castle by popes. Beautiful statues placed at both sides of the Bridge of Angels which leads to Castel Sant' Angelo.

Walk further down and you'll reach this huge building, not sure what's its name though...

Trevi Fountain. One of the most famous fountains in the world. Throw a coin into the pool and make a wish, but that's a catch - There are specific steps to throw the coin in. Firstly, back-facing the pool, pray and make a wish. Second, hold the coin with your right hand. Thirdly, throw the coin backwards into the pool by crossing your right hand over your left shoulder! *taught by our tour guide*

A simple lunch in McD! There was nothing to shout about Italy's McD, normal price, normal taste, but a crowded place due to the attractions nearby!

The Pantheon. Not quite visible from the photo below, there's actually a dome located at the top of The Pantheon, where a hole at the top of dome (they called it the 'Oculus') is the source of illumination to the interior of The Pantheon, also serves as ventilation purpose too. But I wonder what will happen if it rains...

Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II, located beside of a beautiful roundabout. A monument built in honour of Italy's first king, Victor Emmanuel.

To me, the Colosseum is one of the greatest wonders in the world, along with other magnificent structures such as Taj Mahal, Stonehenge, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Statue of Liberty, Golden Gate Bridge, Great Wall of China, Eiffel Tower and the Great Pyramid of Giza. I hope I will be able to see them all in this lifetime... Thankfully, this Europe trip crossed out three from my list! Colosseum, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Eiffel Tower!

Citroen C-Zero, the counterpart of Mitsubishi i-MiEV (ok, the automotive side of me appeared again) spotted beside the Colosseum. Lots of souvenir stalls placed around the Colosseum, and it was good to bargain here! The amount of price that the sellers can discount for you will shock you!

Looks like a lost world of Rome from this perspective.

Resting while waiting for the tour bus to come! It was a hot day... with no ice cream truck in sight :(

A simple gas station with no roof located just beside of the road. Eye opener.

NEXT - Pisa, Italy!
