Car enthusiasts give their own car a nickname, so does punters. Be it Alice or Amina, punting is an attraction in the city of Cambridge. Wait, isn't Cambridge is all about education? That was what I thought so too but you are wrong...
Duck! Look out! That's when an inexperience first-timer punter tries to punt the boat with a very long pole. They tend to swing the pole here and there but their efforts were to no avail. The boat didn't move an inch.
Here's our lengzai punter with the Mathematical Bridge in the background. Myth says that the original Mathematical Bridge was built by the later Sir Isaac Newton without using any bolts and nuts. Then, someone disintegrated it and tried to rebuild but failed. As a result, bolts and nuts have to be used in order to rebuild the Mathematical Bridge. Nevertheless, the bridge is spectacular, built with only straight timbers but resemble an arch.
Our punter was very informative and told us many stories along the river tour. Here's the Bridge of Sigh of Cambridge (another one is in Venice). It is believed to have such name because of the sigh of students before exam. Tough study life huh?
Fun fact: Cambridge is actually made up of 29 different colleges! To name a few, King's Hall College, Trinity Hall and the St. John's College below.
Besides the well known education standard, the colleges in Cambridge have unique architecture with very detailed sculptures on them.
We were just in time for their graduation ceremony! *Imagining my own convocation which is happening soon*
Other than punting and colleges, Cambridge has few museums which displays ancient artefacts and dinosaur fossils! Sedgwick Museum is worth paying a visit to. Huge dinosaur skeletons for us to get up close and personal!
I have no idea how did they allocated such tall relic into the building!
To make the rest of our free time in Cambridge well spent, it's photoshoot time!
